About Us

St. Joseph‘s has been established on its present site since 1964 but its existence dates back to 1863. The main school provides for boys and girls between the ages of five and nine years (Years 1 — 4) while the Nursery accepts children on a part-time basis from the age of 3½ years. |
The building is large, light and airy with a central library, hall, gymnasium and heated outdoor swimming pool. There are separate playgrounds for younger and older pupils with pleasant garden areas and extensive playing fields. Meals are prepared and cooked on the premises.
St. Joseph‘s is part of the Bedford pyramid of four Catholic schools (two lower, one middle and one upper). These schools share the same moral and spiritual values enjoying close liaison to promote progression and continuity. The majority of our pupils transfer to St. Gregory‘s Catholic Middle School at the end of Year 4.
